Kilkenny secured a 70th Leinster Hurling title this afternoon with a 1-25 to 2-15 win over Galway at Croke Park.

With TJ Reid bagging 1-9 for Kilkenny, the game was lit up by a wonderful first half goal by Galway star Joe Canning, who caught a ball in with his back to goal, swivelled and found the net.

But it was not enough as the Cats always seemed to have the edge on their provincial rivals rebuilding their advantage after Galway's Jason Flynn had plundered another goal.

Meanwhile in the qualifiers, Limerick got their campaign back on track with a 4-15 to 1-12 victory over Westmeath at Cusack Park in Mullingar.

Limerick move through to tomorrow morning’s qualifier draw.
