Arsenal might have been tactically out-witted by Everton yesterday, but Kevin Kilbane feels that they are also too often out-fought.
The former Everton player provided co-commentary for us at Goodison Park and tonight he told us that Arsenal "lack any real commitment in a 50:50 challenge', citing the lack of tackles as Romelu Lukaku glided in to score Everton's second goal.
Kilbane added Arsenal "did not have any answers as to how Everton approached the game", praising Roberto Martinez' tactics.
"I think he recognized that Monreal is very much an attacking full-back. Lukaku stayed forward and gave very little support to Seamus Coleman. So he was playing as a striker but kind of pushed out to the right. When Monreal got forward it was easy for Everton to counter and hit him," said Kilbane who felt that Lukaku's celebration with Martinez showed how comfortable he is with his manager and club.
Kilbane believes Martinez has given Everton the confidence to attack sides consistently but also feels he has varied his approach between a possession-based style mixed with longer passes.
Killer also gave an insight into Martinez' management approach in terms of training methods and Seamus Coleman's remarkable rise.
