Irish Olympic silver medalist Kenneth Egan announced his retirement from boxing last night.
The 31-year-old hero of the Beijing Olympics announced his decision in the ring after losing the light-heavyweight final to Joe Ward at the Elite National Boxing Championships.
Egan was looking to bow out of the sport by winning an 11th National title, but he was completely overpowered as Ward scored a resounding 25 - 5 win.
