Earlier today, Martin O'Neill admitted that Celtic had approached his assistant in regards to the vacant manager's job.

While Keane has not yet been appointed Celtic manager, it appears to be a good opportunity as Andrews told us tonight.

"For Roy, if he got the opportunity to manager Celtic for three or four years, I don't think he could pick a better job to go into to rebuild his reputation," said Andrews, who believes the Champions League will be what he would be judged on.

However, the former Ireland midfielder is surprised by the way it has all come out, although he had noticed a few signs of things to come.

Surprised how quickly it's come out. Normally it's kept behind closed doors. I'm sure [Celtic chairman] Dermot Desmond and the Celtic board will be speaking to numerous candidates.

"I'm very surprised that Martin has come out and said that [Keane] has had casual talks with the Celtic board. I thought little alarm bells were ringing at the game the other night before the Turkey game, when Martin brought in Steve Walford and Steve Guppy on the bench. I just thought there was something not quite right there."

He also believes the potential departure will be a "shame" for the young players in the squad who look up to Keane.
