Katie Taylor continued her unbeaten run in the professional ranks with a third round stoppage of Kimberly Connor.

The Irishwoman retained her WBA and IBF Lightweight titles and improved to 10-0.

Off the Ball's Ronan Mullen was ringside to watch the Bray native in action and speaking afterwards, she said: "Yeah I guess it's nice to always get the knock-out. I was planning on being patient as well - I think I did break her down nicely - I think the body shots were important early on.

"I think it was important to stamp my authority early on as well and I thought I was a bit nervous at the press conference so Ross (Enamait) told me to just stamp my authority and let her know whose boss, I guess.

"I think it is important to entertain in the pro game but the most important thing is to win the fight and sometimes you have to be a bit more patient in there and sometimes it could be a boring fight but that's what you have to do to win. The most important thing is to get the win," she added.

She is due to face Cindy Serrano in Chicago next October. Serrano will provide a formidable test and will enter the ring against Taylor with a 27-5-3 record.
