Chelsea captain John Terry says the contract extension offered to him by the club is "a different role", and that he'll take time to "consider it carefully".

The current deal of the long-serving skipper runs out in the summer.

If he decides against coming to an agreement, it would mean he's played his last match for them, as he's suspended for Sunday's final Premier League game at home to Leicester.

Terry took to Instagram to comment on today's contract offer update:

 

Thanks to everyone for the kind wishes. The contract extension the club has offered me is a different role and I hope everyone will understand I want to take the time to consider it carefully before making a decision.
