John Hodnett is set to return to action for Munster after ten months out through injury.

The promising back-row forward sustained a ruptured Achilles tendon during a training session with the province last November.

Hodnett has returned to full training ahead of Saturday's United Rugby Championship meeting with the DHL Stormers at Thomond Park.

Despite the injury, Hodnett was rewarded with a new two-year contract earlier this year.

The 22-year old had played in three of Munster's four Guinness PRO14 games prior to the injury, and told the Southern Star, "It was definitely disappointing when it happened.

"I was really enjoying playing but it ended so quickly then. But there is no point dwelling on it, injuries happen to everyone so I’m trying to make the best of it and my focus now is to improve other parts of my game."

Also returning to full training this week is Kevin O'Byrne. The hooker missed the start of this season with a leg injury.

However, Munster head coach Johann van Graan must factor without Roman Salanoa for a number of weeks.

The prop is continuing to rehabilitate a knee injury.

Liam O'Connor is set to return to training shortly, but will definitely miss this weekend's game with the Stormers.

Meanwhile, James French sustained a concussion  while playing for the Munster Development XV against Leinster last Friday, and is following the return-to-play protocols.

Munster opened their season last week with a bonus point 42-17 win over another South African side - Cell C Sharks - in Limerick last weekend.
