John Giles believes it will be harder for Ireland to get Jack Grealish into a green shirt at senior level since his rise to prominence.

Speaking to Off The Ball, he said: "This idea of him being young, I don't go along with that - if you're good enough, you're old enough," said John.

"This kid can really play and I'd pick him in the team straight away, so I don't know what's happened in the background. But I think it's going to be more difficult for us now to get him to qualify for us than it was before he got into the Villa first team because England's noticed more so than they had before."  

John also feels that the decision may be made with other factors in mind.

"He might have always had ambitions to play for Ireland, we don't know. He might have always had ambitions to play for England - again we don't know. But what happens nowadays is that the agents influence definitely comes into the equation because the agents are always looking at the commercial side of it and there's no doubt that any lad picked to play for England regularly has much more commercial value than if they were playing for us. But you never know. Young Grealish might have it in his head that he always wanted to play for us," he said.
