The 37-year-old carded a final round 67 at Baltusrol to just about hold off World No 1 Jason Day.
The Australian holed an eagle on his final hole to close to 13-under and within just one shot of Walker.

But the American, who had started the tournament well by leading after Round 1, held his nerve to claim victory on 14-under.
Best of the Irish was Padraig Harrington who finished 6-under for the tournament after an excellent final two rounds.
The challenge of 2016 Open champion Henrik Stenson faded during the final round as he slumped back to 8-under after a round of 71 to finish in a tie for seventh.
