Miguel Angel Jimenez has won the Hong Kong Open with a playoff victory over Welshman Stuart Marnely and Thailand’s Prom Meesawat. The win is the fourth Hong Kong Open win for the Spaniard - a record equalling feat – and breaks his own record for the oldest European Tour tournament winner.
The three leaders finished the final round on 12 under and it took a 25 foot putt from Jimenez to secure the win on the first playoff hole, the 18th.
David Higgins was the only Irishman in the field for the weekend and his final round of 68 left him on 3 under, tied for 30th.
Meanwhile, Tiger Wood leads the field heading into the final day at the 18 man World Challenge in California.
The world number 1 hit a 72 overnight and although it was a sharp drop off from the 62 he shot on say two it left him on 11 under for the tournament, 2 shots ahead of Zach Johnson.
Graeme McDowell and Rory McIlroy are sixth and eleventh respectively. McDowell hit 75 yesterday to drop to 2 under, while McIlroy shot a much improved 68, leaving him on 2 over par.
