Donegal had their doubters ahead of yesterday's clash with Tyrone but Jimmy kept winning matches as his team put in a clinical performance to win 2-10 to 0-9.
Newstalk Breakfast's Oisin Langan caught up with Jim McGuinness after the game. Despite the relatively long wait between the league and the Championship opener, the Donegal boss felt the pressure did not increase on his team.
"Last we only had two weeks of a turnaround before we played them," said McGuinness. "To get six or seven weeks of a lead in and knowing your opposition is a huge advantage. I said during the week that our preparations had gone really well. The players knew what the game was all about. It was a tough battle out there and we worked really hard to execute our game plan."
McGuinness confirmed that both Karl Lacey and Mark McHugh picked up slight hamstring strains in the build up to the game which meant they would not be risked. However both did make the bench.
"Between the two situations, we felt that the best thing to do was to finish the game without them," explained McGuinness.
