Ger was joined at the Aviva Stadium by former Ireland winger Jason McAteer and Dublin full-forward Bernard Brogan as we looked ahead to Ireland's friendly against Serbia.
McAteer told Ger that he is encouraged by Roy Keane's appointment as assistant to Martin O'Neill.
"I think what's great about Roy coming in is that all the players will look up to him and idolize him," said McAteer.
"What's good for him is that he's had a go at management and I don't think it's quite worked out the way he planned it. I think coming in as Martin O'Neill's assistant might calm him down a little bit and see things from a different angle. His experience will be invaluable in the dressing room and when he speaks, he'll have the dressing room listening and taking note."
McAteer also confirmed that he and Keane have not made peace since their on-pitch Premier League bust-up, before adding:
"I'm bored of all the Roy Keane chat. At the end of the day, I played with some world class players but he is up there as one of the best I've ever played with. He was brilliant."

"If he wants to be like he is off the pitch, then that's Roy and that's his character. If we ever bumped into each other in the future - like maybe tonight - then we could shake hands. I did hold the door open for him at the Cup final and he said thank you which is a start."
