With Leicester top of the table and Jamie Vardy banging in goals for fun, there was always going to be speculation about the future of the former Fleetwood Town footballer. 

Vardy's name had notably been linked with Chelsea and Liverpool in recent weeks as they look to add goals up front, but the Sheffield native looks set to put pen to paper on a new deal with Leicester. 

The improved contract would see him stay at the club until 2019, and at 29-years-old it might be the last chance at a big deal for the England international. 

According to The Guardian, Vardy currently earns in the region of £40,000 a week, but the new deal would significantly improve that figure, and shows Leicester's desire to hang on to their most important players this season, given that he signed a new contract with the club just 16 months ago. 

While no details have been revealed of the amount of the improved offer, keeping players at the King Power stadium could prove to be a tricky task. As they approach the summer transfer window, names such as Riyad Mahrez and N'Golo Kanté are likely to appear on the shopping lists of a number of teams.
