Craig Bellamy could be featuring on Monday Night Football on Sky Sports, but despite reports it doesn't seem that he's set to fill the vacancy left by Gary Neville on an ongoing basis

The show has become hugely popular thanks to the level of in-depth analysis given on the weekend's fixtures that manages to not be dry and boring, but with Gary Neville headed to take over the head coaching job with Valencia, there's a very empty looking chair on the studio floor.

The hot seat looks set to be filled by Craig Bellamy, at least in the short term, as Jamie Carragher hinted at the identity of the guest in a tweet.

Carragher followed that up quickly with another tweet to state that there wouldn't be a permanent replacement, rather that there would be a different guest on every week.

The Daily Mail believe, however, that Bellamy is the leading contender to replace Neville and be a permanent fixture in the Monday Night Football lineup.

They quote "an observer" who states that Bellamy is said to be "thrilled" to be given the opportunity and that he "would have a lot to say. He could be very entertaining and spiky".

Since retiring in 2014, Craig Bellamy has been training to get his coaching badges and has been working as an academy coach at Cardiff City.
