Former Ireland defender Paddy Mulligan is concerned that Martin O'Neill does not seem to know his best team.

Looking back at the 4-0 win over minnows Gibraltar on the Rewind podcast with Richie McCormack, Paddy shared his concerns about the performance which lifts the Boys in Green up to third in their Euro 2016 qualifying group thanks to Scotland slipping up in Georgia.

"I thought it was a very poor performance by Ireland. I thought midfield was non-existent," said Paddy.

"Gibraltar are only part-timers. They're amateurs. It's embarrassing. I know it ended up 4-0 at the end but really won there at half-time thanks to a goal from Cryus [Christie].

"It didn't look like we were going to score in the first half. It's just very, very worrying that [O'Neill] doesn't seem to know what his best team is and it would be a big concern going into the game tonight."

Paddy was also critical of James McCarthy's approach in the centre of midfield, saying that he is always left disappointed by his lack of "authority", but he adds that the only saving grace from Friday night is that group rivals Scotland lost.
