Former Spain and Liverpool midfielder Luis Garcia says Gary Neville has picked a tough place to start his managerial career.

This morning, the surprising news that the Sky Sports Monday Night Football pundit will take charge of Spanish side Valencia, was announced.

His brother Phil is already on the coaching staff at the club, where he has signed on until the end of the season.

Garcia has told Sky Sports News, that Neville will need to get off to a fast start.

"The Mestalla is probably one of the strongest and most intimidating stadiums and the fans are very hard with the team," he said.

"Of course they are going to open their arms and wait for a good welcome but it's going to be hard work to bring the team back to the Top Four."

Off The Ball's Spain-based European football correspondent Graham Hunter also gave his take on the appointment this afternoon.
