Former US Open champion Graeme McDowell is looking to gain some momentum this week ahead of the Irish Open which starts in eight days time.

The Portrush native has played seven times this year, but the PGA Championship at Wentworth will be his first on European soil in 2015.

McDowell is still looking for a top 20 finish this year with his best finish coming at the RBC Heritage in South Carolina where he finished in a tie for 26th place. He won the same tournament at the same venue two years ago.

The World number 35 does not have the best of records at Wentworth and in ten appearances he has failed to crack the top ten. A tied 13th finish in 2009 is McDowell's best finish at the European Tour's flagship event.

He spoke to Nick Dye earlier today about his hopes for the week and for the season.
