Irish Olympian Fiona Doyle has has narrowly missed out on a place in the semi-final of the women's 50-metre Breaststroke at the World Short Course Championships in Canada.

Doyle, who studied and trains in Calgary, posted a time of 30.77 seconds to finish first in Heat 4. However, the Limerick native finished 17th overall, missing out on a spot in the semi-final by 0.07 seconds.

Earlier, Ireland's Jordan Sloan missed out on qualification for the final of the men's 400-metre freestyle. The Bangor swimmer placed second in his heat, but was 28th overall with just the top 8 to qualify.
