It has been a superb afternoon session for the Irish boxers at the European Championships in Minsk.

Paddy Barnes, Tommy McCarthy and Jason Quigley all registered wins to advance to the quarter-finals in their respective weight categories.

Barnes enjoyed a unanimous victory over John Willams of Wales in their light-flyweight contest while McCarthy proved too powerful for Finland's Tomi Honka in the heavy-weight division.

Quigley was the last of the three into the ring and the middleweight added to his growing reputation with a unanimous decision over Arbi Chakaev of Austria.
