The IRFU have confirmed they do not intend to appeal Brian O’Driscoll’s three week ban for stamping. The decision means O’Driscoll will now definitely miss Leinster’s Amlin Challenge Cup game against Wasps on Friday, April 5 and their meeting with Ulster this Friday.

The disciplinary committee noted that O’Driscoll’s stamp, on Italian Simone Favaro during Ireland's final Six nations game of this year's campaign, was “a spontaneous act born out of frustration.” Following the initial verdict the ban was immediately reduced from five weeks to three, to reflect O’Driscoll’s “exemplary previous playing and disciplinary record.”
