The Irish Paralympic team are to return home on Wednesday afternoon.

Having won 11 medals in Rio de Janeiro, the 48-person team, will arrive in Terminal One of Dublin Airport around 1pm. The team left Brazil on Tuesday afternoon, to begin the long journey back home.

Ireland's four gold medals came on the track from Jason Smyth and Michael McKillop, cyclists Eoghan Clifford in the Velodrome and from Katie George Dunlevy and her pilot Eve McCrystal on the road.

The discus was Ireland's most successful event, with Orla Barry and Niamh McCarthy winning silver and Noelle Lenihan adding a bronze.

Colm Lynch won a silver medal, along with Dunlevy and McCrystal won added a second medal to their total. Clifford won a bronze to go with his gold, while Ellen Keane also won a bronze in the swimming pool.

The team's 11 medals, beat the eight medal target set out by Paralympics Ireland. Ireland finished 28th in the medal table.
