Irish show-jumper Bertram Allen secured Olympic qualification for Rio 2016.

The 20-year-old Wexford native and his mare Molly Malone V have finished inside the qualifying cut-off point for the Rio games but there was disappointment for his team-mate Denis Lynch, who just missed-out.

Allen will still have to win the nod from show-jumping Ireland team manager Robert Splaine before he will be assured of travelling to Brazil.

Allen was named The Irish Field senior show jumper of the year last month.
