Ireland produced a stunning second half comeback this afternoon in Dubai as the Women's Rugby 7s came from 12-0 down to defeat their Spanish counterparts 14-12.

Lucy Mulhall crossed to secure the win for Ireland, after Megan Williams' try after the break dragged Ireland back into the game.

Flawless conversion kicks meant Ireland were able to edge the victory right at the death and clinch the Challenge Trophy.

"I'm happy to be able to walk away with the girls today with a win," Mulahll said after the final whistle. "Day one didn't really go as planned and we really wanted to be playing in the top eight.

"It was disappointing last night to put together a convincing performance the USA and then when everything got hard we were 12-0 down to fight back and win. It's phenomenal, I'm very proud of the girls."

Patricia Garcia and Maria Casado scored the tries for Spain and Amee-Leigh Murphy Crowe produced a try saving tackle in the final minute to ensure Ireland won the match.
