Ex-Munster and Ireland player David Corkery feels the scale of Ireland's win over New Zealand in the under-20 Rugby World Cup almost overshadows the Irish senior team's achievement in South Africa.

Both Ireland sides won their respective games in impression fashion and speaking to Oisin Langan on the Rewind podcast, Corkery was thoroughly impressed by the manner of the under-20s' achievement.

"For me that victory nearly takes precedence over the Irish senior team," he said.

"For them to do that against a New Zealand under-20 side who are hotly tipped their World Cup and they just blew them apart to be honest. The score doesn't really reflect the dominance that Ireland had, especially in the scrum. That to me was really the standout performance, the one performance that paints a picture of Irish rugby going forward."
