Ireland's women's cricket team have lost their World T20 opener against New Zealand in Bangledesh.

Trent Johnston's team were chasing a total of 172 but fell 42 runs short of beating the White ferns.

Cecelia Joyce top-scored with 41 runs for Ireland, but after being set a target of 172 to win, their reply was always behind the required run rate.

Ireland's next game is against Australia on Thursday.
