Two second half goals for Spain gave them a 2-0 win over Ireland in Yankee Stadium last night.
Spain who are preparing for the Confederations Cup which starts this weekend, ran out comfortable winners against an Ireland side hit by injuries and withdrawals.
However the Boys in Green proved resilient in the first half as they held La Furia Roja scoreless despite wave after wave of attack.
Ireland could have taken a half-time lead but Connor Sammon prodded wide after a mistake from Barca's Gerard Pique.
However Spain got the goals they needed in the second 45.
Roberto Soldado gave Vicente Del Bosque's side the lead with a volley from an Alvaro Arbeloa cross with 20 minutes to go.
Ireland coud have been level in the final stages but Sean St Ledger had a goal ruled out for offside.
Juan Mata scored late in the second half to put some gloss on the scoreline for the World and European Champions.
