Ireland has booked their place in next year’s ICC World Twenty20 after an impressive win over Jersey.

John Bracewell’s side were up against it going into the tie after two successive defeats and it was looking like they would have to settle for a place in the playoffs after suffering unexpected, and almost ignominious, reversals to Papua New Guinea and then Hong Kong.

Results went their way this aftrenoon as the USA and Hong Kong  pulled off wins over PNG and Namibia respectively meaning they finished top of Group A.

It means the Irish progress automatically to the 2016 World Twenty20 tournament in India and also book their place in the semi-finals of this tournament which will take place this Saturday.

Ireland will have to wait to discover who their opponents will be in the last four as they go in search of a fourth straight title in this competition.
