In two contrasting semi-finals, Waterford and Galway prevailed against Antrim and Dublin respectively to book their places in the Bord Gais Energy Under-21 All-Ireland hurling final.

Waterford demolished Antrim in the opening encounter in Semple Stadium on a scoreline of 5-25 to 1-08 and while it might be little consolation for the Ulster side, Waterford looked amazing with players such as Austin Gleeson and Tom Devine really stepping up to the plate.

In the second semi-final, Galway and Dublin went to extra-time and for long parts of it could not be separated. Galway eventually took the lead late on through Brian Molloy and the same player consolidated their lead to give them a two point lead as time expired and they booked their place in the final against Waterford.
