Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has admitted that he is glad that he is not Giovanni Trapattoni after learning how the FAI had agreed to accept the interest free loan in exchange for dropping any potential legal challenge against the result of the 2010 World Cup qualifier against France.

"Until his moment, I laugh about the corruption at FIFA," he said.

"But when I hear that a country that should be in the World Cup and that millions of Irish people that should be enjoying its country in the World Cup, but they didn't. Then they close their mouth and their emotions and their hearts because somebody got €5m. I am happy that I am not Trapattoni."

There is speculation today that FAI chief executive John Delaney could be asked to appear before the Oireachtas sub-committee on sport to explain why the Association accepted the deal.
