Even if Manchester United make it into the League Cup final, the pressure will barely lift itself off David Moyes' shoulders.

But is his job safe if the Reds' miss out on the Champions League places?

United We Stand fanzine editor Andy Mitten thinks Moyes is likely to still be manager next August.

"It would be a surprise if David Moyes wasn't in charge next season. But he's judged by results and results have not been good enough at the moment. I think if United fail to get into the Champions League next season, that will become a big issue. They expect a certain number of games and they budget for that. That would include the group stages of the Champions League and runs in the cups."

But the players have been supportive of Moyes thus far according to Mitten, while the atmosphere at matches has been "measured".

Man United coach Phil Neville has also stated that the majority of the players are training well. But visiting players to Man United have not been impressed by United.

"I've spoken to two Premier League players, who have both been on the winning teams at Old Trafford and off-the-record they tell you that they cannot believe how easy it was."

The main problem according to Mitten is that the players are not maximizing their potential as Moyes' coaches are well-respected at the club.

And what of Wayne Rooney who has been deemed "irreplaceable" despite an apparent reluctance to sign a new contract. Mitten believes United will do everything in their power to keep hold of the England international.

"Manchester United will not sell Wayne Rooney. That is the bottom line. When I interviewed [chief executive] Ed Woodward, he described Rooney as irreplaceable. I raised my eyebrows at that and asked if he wanted to go strong on it and he said yes because he is irreplaceable. If the boss is saying that, then Manchester United will look foolish if Wayne Rooney was then sold."
