As FAI chief John Delaney confirmed on Newstalk yesterday, Martin O'Neill and Roy Keane have been signed sealed and delivered.
However, until Saturday's unveiling, it is unclear how Martin O'Neill and Roy Keane will dovetail.
Irish Times soccer correspondent Emmet Malone was on Off The Ball last night to ascertain what responsibilities O'Neill will give to his new assistant.
"A couple of people that are friendly with O'Neill have suggested that [Keane's role] is liaising with the players which is something O'Neill does pretty well himself. I'm not quite sure how that is going to work. It will be very interesting to see how he fits in and how much responsibility he is given," said Malone.
There has also been suggestions that Keane might prefer international coaching in comparison to the club scene.
"I find it fascinating that so many people have suggested that international football is going to suit Keane because it will involve working with the players a lot. It's obviously a huge part of any management job and for people to suggest the less he deals with the players the better is a remarkable indictment of the record that he has," said Malone.
"Various former team-mates have been saying that he can make a real success of this. But a key part of all of that seems to be the prediction that he has gone away from the Ipswich job and reflected on the mistakes he made, both there and at Sunderland. If all that is true, then it will be a remarkable turning point."
