Can David Moyes be trusted with a £100 million transfer kitty this summer?
To answer that, Ger spoke to John Giles who thinks Moyes will be given the chance to identify players this summer after last summer's transfer window turned out to be a failure under an inexperienced executive vice-chairman.
"I think he will be given until Christmas of this year. The only way to judge him is in the summer. There is no doubt that he will get rid of players and he'll bring players in," said John who thinks Moyes will not be sacked this season.
"That's the ultimate judgement of a manager. He will judged between the start of next season and Christmas because he will have gotten rid of the players he doesn't want and by then he should get the players in that he does want. If he doesn't spend it wisely, he will be in trouble."
But Giles also believes Moyes needs to guide Man United as deep as possible into this season's Champions League knockout stages in order to boost the transfer funds for this summer, and to disregard the Europa League which "won't be good for them."
But in terms of spending the cash, John is concerned by the way that Moyes is utilizing Juan Mata who he sees as a "genuine midfield player" rather than one who is shunted onto the wing.
John also talked Arsenal and Liverpool on Thursday Night Football and you can listen to the full interview via the podcast.
