Ireland's Darron Gibson won't be leaving Everton anytime soon.
Despite enduring an injury-hit campaign, the midfielder has signed a new two year contract extension with the club which will keep him at Goodison Park up until 2018.
"I had a few options but as long as Everton were giving me the option I was never going anywhere else. People say, ‘Once Everton has touched you,’ and it is true. It is a great club, there are great people here and the dressing room is great, so I was never signing anywhere else," he told the club website.
Southampton boss Ronald Koeman is expected to succeed Roberto Martinez as manager of the club shortly.
Gibson missed out on a place in Martin O'Neill's 23-man Ireland squad for Euro 2016, although he had been in the preliminary panel.
