At least Manchester City made it out of the group stages this time!

But once again an expensively-assembled team failed to leave a dent in the Champions League as the Sky Blues' exit was confirmed in last night's second leg

ESPN's John Brewin joined us on the line after the match to analyze where City went wrong this time.

Since it was not a physical battle, Brewin questioned why Javi Garcia was not played in central defence to add his composure and reading of the game to the back line.

And he added that he "sees the logic" of playing the error prone Martin Demichelis in the first leg "because of the prospect of Joleon Lescott playing against Lionel Messi."

"Actually Lescott played okay but just like Demichelis he made a big mistake and that's the problem with players like that. I still can't believe Man City didn't buy a central defender in the August market, let alone the January one."

As for Barcelona, Brewin does not see the Catalans winning the competition, although he was impressed by Lionel Messi last night in comparison to the first leg.
