Hunter Mahan has foregone the opportunity to wrap up victory at the RBC Canadian Open – and the not too meagre winner’s purse of slightly over $1,000,000 – as he left the tournament to be with his wife as she went into labour. The American had been leading the tournament by two shots after the opening two rounds when he withdrew.
Mahan travelled from the tournament to Dallas where he met his newly arrived son, Jesse.
In Mahan’s absence Brandt Snedeker hit a third round score of 63 to move to 14 under and take the lead.
