The three-finger salute from the Hollywood movie "The Hunger Games" is being used as a real symbol of resistance in Thailand.
Protesters against the military coup are using the gesture as a silent act of rebellion, and are being threatened with arrest if they ignore warnings to stop.
The Thai military says it will arrest anyone who uses the salute, which is also a response to bans on political gatherings of five people or more.
The government have offered a small reprieve to the country's vital tourism industry though by lifting the curfew at three popular beach resorts - Phuket, Koh Samui and Pattaya - which will ease the impact on tourists.
Sam Claflin, who plays Finnick Odair in The Hunger Games movies, said its easy to forget "how big these films are and how many people do hear every word that is spoken".
