Captain Ger Brennan says St Vincent’s did their homework and it paid off as they retained their Leinster club football title with victory over Rhode yesterday’s final.

The Dublin centre-back was part of a defence that yielded just six points during the defending All-Irelend champions’ 1-13 to 0-6 victory over Offaly’s finest in Navan.

“We would have studied their shape, particularly in their forward line,” Brennan told Newstalk’s Oisin Langan. “We worked hard on our defensive structure to null and curb that influence on the game. Bar maybe the last ten minutes of the first half, it worked quite well.”

Brennan also told Oisin what back-to-back provincial successes say about the all-conquering Marino outfit, the influence of Diarmuid Connolly, and looked forward to a heavyweight All-Ireland semi-final clash against Corofin of Galway.

That interview was part of the Leinster football final reaction on the Monday Rewind podcast.

Listen to the other interviews from the 42 minute mark. They are followed by analysis of the match quarter-final between Corofin and Tir Connel Gaels, as well as reaction from Gort's win over Portumna in the Galway hurling decider.
