The forwards coach of French Top 14 side l'Union Bordeaux-Bègles is set to take charge of Co Cork rugby club Bandon RFC.
Regis Sonnes joins the amateur club on a two-year contract according to leading French sports daily l'Equipe.
They quote the 43-year-old as telling Sud-Ouest newspaper about his new adventure: "It's a club at regional level 3, a village of 6,000 people, 30 minutes from Cork. I'll be in charge of the first team and of club development, and involvement in provincial competitions in Munster."

Bordeaux-Begles have performed well in the Top 14 this season and are in the hunt for a European Champions Cup playoff place, sitting seventh in the table.
