Hibernian Football Club have handed down lifetime bans to a number of their fans following crowd trouble at the Scottish Cup final.

The trouble started after Hibs beat Rangers in the Scottish Cup Final 3-2 with a late goal in injury time. Fan of the scottish club invaded the pitch and fighting broke out between the two sets of fans.

A criminal investigation relating to the trouble is currently underway and the SFA has also set up an independent commission to understand exactly what went wrong at the Glasgow stadium two weeks ago.

The club's chef executive, Leeann Dempster said, "While Police Scotland will continue with their own inquiries, we will continue to review what happened and take the action we think appropriate to protect the club's good name.

"We will also co-operate fully with the independent commission established by the SFA.

"We have initiated contact with the supporters informing them of our decision. We will continue to identify and impose appropriate sanctions against others involved in unacceptable behaviour."
