A financial penalty of €5,000 has been handed down to the Dublin and Galway county boards for their part in the brawl which broke out during an exhibition game of hurling in Boston last weekend.
This is the second disciplinary fine that the Dublin board has had to pay this season following an incident during a challenge game against Armagh which cost them €6,500.

During the game in Boston, Galway players Iarla Tannian and Andy Smith were sent to the sin-bin while Dublin goalkeeper Conor Dooley was issued a yellow card, meaning that these players will not be subjected to any further action. It is yet unclear however, if any other players will face sanctions as a result of the melee in Fenway stadium if they are cited for misconduct.
According to the Irish Independent, Dublin assistant secretary Jim Roche was shocked to hear of the CCCC's decision to take action.

Despite that unsavoury spell during the game, the Super 11s hurling exhibition was well received by Americans which Galway won by three points in front of a crowd of 30,000 spectators. The tone on social media suggests that the game will be staged again some time next year.
