Earlier today, the sad news broke that double Cheltenham Gold Cup-winning horse Kauto Star had been put down after a fall.

Ruby Walsh was one jockey who enjoyed success with the 15-year-old and he paid tribute to the Paul Nicholls-trained charger on Off The Ball.

"He just had everything. He had no real flaws. He was incredibly sound, he had tremendous pace, stamina ... he just seemed to have everything," said Walsh, who also underlined the horse's longevity.

Reminiscing about his early experiences with Kauto Star, Walsh picked out their first race together at Newbury in the Novice Chase, saying "I remember thinking that day that this is a fair horse. But I didn't think that day, he would go on to do what he did."
