Manchester United fans have been expecting their Spanish goalkeeper to leave this summer, but it looks like it will be Victor Valdes that walks out the exit door and not David de Gea.

The former Barcelona goalkeeper is absent from Manchester United's American pre season tour and when manager Louis van Gaal was asked about Valdes' absence the Dutch manager stated it was due to a difference in footballing philosophy. 

"He refused last year to play in the second team", van Gaal told the assembled media. "When you are not willing to follow the principles of the philosophy, there is only way and that is out"

Valdes joined Manchester United last season after spending his career at his local team, Barcelona.
