In the most dramatic fashion, Lewis Hamilton has secured pole position for tomorrow’s season opening Australian Grand Prix. On the final lap of the qualifying session Hamilton beat the best time of Red Bull’s Daniel Ricciardo by 0.317 seconds.
Hamilton’s Mercedes team mate took third, but reigning champion Sebastian Vettel could only manage thirteenth. It is the first time the four time champion has not made the top 10 in qualifying since the Belgian Grand Prix of 2012.

McLaren new boy Kevin Magnussen was fourth fastest while Fernando Alonso was fifth in the Ferarri.
