Lewis Hamilton will start in pole position for tomorrow's Formula One Canadian Grand Prix.

The reigning world champion finished nearly 0.400 seconds ahead of his Mercedes teammate Nico Rosberg, while Ferrari's Kimi Raikkonen will start in third.

The third and final practice session had been one to forget for Lewis Hamilton.

Out of the 20 cars on track, the reigning world champion set the slowest time.

Ferrari's Sebastian Vettel had a qualifying session to forget as he starts 16th, while Jenson Button will begin the race from the back of the grid, after not taking part in qualifying due to his car needing an engine change.

On Newstalk this Friday, Thomas Maher of Formula Spy joined us on Inside F1 to preview the Grand Prix.
