Lewis Hamilton will start in pole position at the Brazilian Grand Prix as he looks to catch championship leader Nico Rosberg.

It's Hamilton's 60th pole position leaving him third on the list behind Ayrton Senna and record-holder Michael Schumacher, who started from first sixty-eight times.

Hamilton has never won in Brazil and will need to do so the keep the championship race going.

Elsewhere Ferrari's Kimi Raikkonen will start in third, with Red Bull's Max Verstappen in fourth. Four time world champion Sebastian Vettel starts in fifth.

Speaking after claiming pole, Hamilton said: "I felt quite comfortable in qualifying as I have done all weekend, Nico has been getting quicker and quicker but I have generally had him covered."

"This is the best I could have hoped for coming here, I think it is only my second pole here," he added.
