Following a miserable Saturday in Moscow for Irish athletes Brian Gregan has lightened the gloom by advancing to the semi-finals of the 400m at the World Atheltic Championships.

Gregan finished his heat in a time of 46.04 seconds and despite finishing sixth in his heat qualified as the fastest loser in the heats. The time was over half a second off Gregan’s personal best.

The 23 year old from Clonliffe Harriers will run in his semi-final tomorrow evening at 17.05.
