It's been a mixed day so far for the Irish at the European Championships in Zurich.

Medal hopeful Brian Gregan is through to the semi finals after finishing third at his ease in the 400 metres heats.

Richard Morrisey has also made it through as a fastest loser.

Irish record holder Amy Foster has made it through to tomorrows 100 metre semi finals as a fastest loser but Phil Healy is out.  

Waterford's Thomas Barr won his heat of the 400 metres hurdles meaning he's through to tomorrows semi final.

23-year-old Jason Harvey misses out on the semi's having finished 7th in his heat.

20-year-old Limerick sprinter Sarah Lavin is also out of the 100 metres hurdles after finishing last in her heat.

Mark English and Declan Murray go in the 800 metres at around 6.50pm this evening.

Former European cross country champion Fionnuala Britton from Wicklow runs in the ten thousand metres final at around 7.20pm.
