It took over 6,000 attempts, but the 17th at Sawgrass finally saw a hole-in-one for the first time in over a decade on Friday evening. 

The island hole is one of the most famous in golf, and had not seen a hole-in-one since Miguel Angel Jimenez did so in 2002.

Will Wilcox was the player to enter the history books. He went into the hole at -3, and left one shot later on -5.

The hole has seen many memorable moments in recent years including a "hole-in-three" by Phil Couples, after his first shot went into the water.
