It was arguably the most anticipated match of the World Cup quarter final stage. But in truth Germany versus France did not catch fire as Die Mannschaft recorded a 1 - 0 win against Les Bleus.

It was a match that saw Philippe Lahm back at right back with Bastian Schweinsteiger and Sami Khedira sharing the midfield again for once.

We were joined by Ben Lyttleton to review the match and he thinks they looked more comfortable in those positions.

"Everyone were in their natural positions. The Germans looked much more comfortable and as well as that, it was probably their best defensive display we'd seen all tournament from Manuel Neuer and Mats Hummels especially," said Lyttleton.

And although France lost, Lyttleton felt that it was a "good tournament" for the French, with one eye to the future.

"Overall the France campaign has been very encouraging and positive because the squad have been together. No one has fallen out and they've all given a good account of themselves. It is a young team, a young squad. Apart from Evra, I can see pretty much that whole XI starting in Euro 2016," said Lyttleton.
