The GAA has revealed the details of a new national hurling competition that will cater for 16 and 17 year-olds who aren't sitting State Examinations this summer.
The Celtic Challenge will start next month and will feature a total of 38 teams from across 31 counties.
It will include county as well as regional sides that will take part across seven groups that are determined on a geographical and developmental basis.
There will be 1,000 players involved in a programme of 110 matches that take place over seven weeks.
The competition will also feature a bonus-point system for the group stages with teams earning a bonus point if they score two or more goals or if they lose a match by five points or less.
"I believe our young players will embrace the Celtic Challenge as a chance to showcase their skill and to test themselves against their peers. This represents a new departure for hurling and will see an increase of almost 100 extra games being played with more than 800 additional players being involved," said GAA president Aogán Ó Fearghail.
